Kels- The main characters name is Kelseigh and I thought that included in the script could be a scene where she confronts her brother as to why he and everyone else only now calls her Kelseigh because of her illness when she has always been called Kels. I thought that this could be a representation as to the isolation she feels and be a huge portrayal of how she is being treated different.
Escaping Reality- This would be quite an obvious title for the film as it is quite plainly what they are trying to do by running off to London.
A Pastel Life- The word pastel can mean delicate and sweet which is how my main characters life will be seen by the audience, therefore the name links with the main female character. I felt that using a different word to describe her would be more interesting and a better title.
Pastel- Again the word means the same and I think can describe the her life and how she is treated but it also shows what she is trying to over come and stop being seen as by others.
Aerial- The word has various different meaning that I think can link in with the characters and other aspects of what I am hoping to include into my trailer. Two main meanings that link in are "Inhabiting or frequenting the air" this gives the idea of birds which are mostly seen as a symbol for freedom and hope, this is all my character wants out of life and the symbol would be really lovely to describe the film. The other description for aerial is "having a light and graceful beauty" this is what I would like my character to show physically, also a really good description.
My personal favourite out of the options are Kels, Pastel and Aerial all because I feel that they have the most meaning and create different levels to the film. I also like how all of them in some way give the audience a straight away glimpse at some of the information included into the film however in a way that may not be seen unless you were to look for it.
I did a small group study on what name was preferred. I asked ten people to read each name and description and choose one that they felt would work best. I ranged in asking people of different ages and genders however they all like comedy- drama films. The reason I asked these specific people is to get a wide range of opinion from people who already have seen and like many films in the same genre as my own. This should get me a better understanding of which my target audience will react best to.
The results from the ten people ended with and equal liking of two of the title.
Both Kels and Pastel received 30%. To ensure the choice of one of the names I asked one last person what title they prefer and why. The response to this was that they felt that the nickname Kels can be implemented into the trailer throughout so the need for it as the title is minimal however the meaning for Pastel in the title idea has a bigger impact because there is a deeper meaning behind it.
Taking in all of the results and reasoning I have chosen the name of my film trailer to be Pastel.
